An especially brisk November afternoon at Lake Almanor, California, in the top of the Sierras... BNSF railroad tracks behind my home look especially cold in the deep shade with a dusting of morning snow. Though they appear quiet in this moment, these rails are traveled a dozen times a day by the freight trains heading north and south.

I have lived in Plumas County since 1977. It is a place so steeped in nature and wildlife, that every day, every view, is a photographic opportunity. Photography captures and freezes moments in time that would otherwise be missed, or compressed by our brains into the daily mash of life.
